🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On February 17, 2013, around 7:50 PM, a witness and his wife observed four red-orange glowing points aligned in the sky above the village of Ham in the French region of Somme. These objects were moving slowly and silently toward the witnesses. During the approximately 10-minute observation, more similar glowing points appeared. The GEIPAN contacted the witness by phone to clarify the direction of movement: the objects were coming from the east, at the 13 o'clock position, and moving toward the northwest. The glowing balls passed almost vertically above the road and were hidden by the buildings of a sugar factory to the north of the route. The wind in the area at the time, coming from the southeast, matched the movement of the objects. Their color, grouping, and similar trajectories led the GEIPAN to conclude that these were Thai lanterns. The case was classified as "B," meaning explained as an observation of these.
