Summary

On February 7, 2013, during an Ariane rocket launch in French Guiana, a witness and his children observed three parallel lines clearly visible near the horizon. The phenomenon was recorded on video and quickly dissipated. The GEIPAN, the French organization responsible for investigating unidentified aerial phenomena, concluded that the lines were straight projected shadows. According to the report, these shadows were caused by sunlight reflecting off the dense vapor trail of the Ariane rocket at dusk. Although it might initially seem unexplainable, the physical explanation is clear and consistent with other similar documented cases.
