On March 9, 2013, a witness in Ruedisheim (France) observed a series of glowing yellow balls silently crossing the sky from his terrace. These appeared in organized groups and moved in the direction of the local wind. Although the witness did not identify the origin of the objects, the GEIPAN considered that the characteristics matched those of "Thai lanterns." Given the location in an urban area with high housing density, it was not considered reasonable to investigate further. The case was classified as "B," indicating a probable observation of this type of object.
The case presented no strange or inexplicable elements, supporting the hypothesis that it was objects launched by people. Despite the lack of direct confirmation, there were no elements in the testimony contradicting this explanation. Therefore, the GEIPAN did not consider it necessary to continue the investigation. This type of event, although striking, often has conventional explanations, especially when they align with known patterns such as wind movement and typical visual appearance of lanterns.
