🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On May 19, 2013, around midnight, several people in Evreux, France, observed from a balcony a silent movement of 6 to 8 yellow-orange glowing spheres traveling from the horizon toward the south. The witness, facing north, saw the luminous objects in the northwest and watched them move away toward the south. Weather data from Meteociel for Rouen indicated a cloudy sky, northeast wind, and recent light rain. Despite the slightly unfavorable weather, the GEIPAN classified the case as likely involving Thai lanterns, given the appearance, duration, and movement consistent with wind patterns. The timing and weather also aligned with possible cultural celebrations, as these lanterns can still be used even in light rain.
