On May 11, 2013, a driver and his son observed a dozen red balls moving silently in the sky above Domancy. The initial testimony suggested something unusual, but it was soon revealed that these were Thai lanterns. Although the witness misjudged their distance and size—common in such sightings—a later declaration from someone who had launched the lanterns during a wedding celebration clarified the event. The GEIPAN classified this case as "A," meaning it was clearly identified as a terrestrial phenomenon.
