A mysterious object over Menton in 2013

Summary

In May 2013, a witness on the beach in Menton observed an unusual aerial phenomenon. They saw an elongated white object surrounded by a translucent, round halo moving rapidly from west to southeast, without any sound, and it disappeared within seconds. Although the witness described the sky as clear, meteorological records indicated a partly cloudy sky. Investigators suggested it could be an airplane reflecting sunlight in an optical phenomenon known as the Brocken specter. However, the single testimony and the object's speed led the GEIPAN to classify the case as "C" due to lack of conclusive evidence.
