Summary

On June 9, 2013, a witness in Crampagna observed between 0:45 and 0:50 a very bright red-orange object slowly moving from north to south. The object disappeared behind a hill and no unusual noise was heard during the 4 to 5 minutes of observation. Due to the description of the intense light and the context of the weekend, investigators from GEIPAN concluded that it was likely a Thai lantern released during a celebration in Saint-Jean-de-Verges. Although meteorological data from Saint-Girons indicate light and unstable winds, precise conditions in Crampagna cannot be determined due to its location in a hilly area. The case was classified as "B", indicating a probable explanation.
