A witness in Indre-et-Loire observed a black object in the sky on July 5, 2013. From his terrace, he noticed a silent movement that he initially thought was a bird with white wings. However, something caught his attention: a luminous effect that seemed to sweep from top to bottom. The object remained visible for about 15 seconds before disappearing behind a roof. Although the movement was similar to that of a bird, the bright reflections on a dark body were unusual. The GEIPAN concluded it was likely a black bird illuminated by the setting sun, which would explain the glints.
The case was classified as "B," indicating that conventional explanations are plausible. During sunset, low-angle sunlight can create reflections on dark wings, as seen in cormorants or ravens. Although the testimony is singular, there are no elements suggesting a non-terrestrial nature. The strangeness of the case lies more in the witness's perception than in any unexplainable characteristics of the object.
