Summary

On the night of August 24, 2013, a witness in Le Boulou captured images of a phenomenon that caught their attention: a bright sphere to the left of the Moon. Upon reviewing the photos, they noticed the presence of a second sphere. The Moon appears clearly in the image as a gibbous disk. However, the two large luminous disks to its left are photographic artifacts caused by dust particles or water droplets near the lens, illuminated by the flash. Although identified as "orbs," they do not explain the presence of a second luminous sphere that the witness observed with their own eyes.

After analyzing the case, the GEIPAN classified it as "C" due to the lack of conclusive evidence. Although possible explanations such as a lunar halo or the light from a stadium lamp have been suggested, none have been confirmed. The ambiguity of the case and the inability to rule out all conventional hypotheses have led to this provisional classification. The file remains open, but without new evidence, its origin cannot be determined with certainty.
