In August 2013, a couple in Saint-André (France) was awakened by a bright light they attributed to lightning. The witness took a first photo from the window before going to sleep, and then a second one after stepping onto the balcony. In this second image, luminous streaks appeared, initially interpreted as lightning. However, upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the streaks were photographic artifacts caused by the long exposure time and camera movement. Although the witnesses didn't notice anything unusual at the time, the image captured details that generated some intrigue.
The GEIPAN concluded that the observed phenomenon had no paranormal explanation, but was the result of an improper photographic exposure. The case classification as "A" indicates a mysterious yet explainable situation, where the perception of the extraordinary was due to a misinterpretation of visual data. This case is an example of how something that seems inexplicable can have a simple technical explanation.
