🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On September 27, 2013, a witness in Montreuil-sur-Ille (France) observed an orange glowing ball moving silently from east to west across a cloudy sky. The object appeared multiple times along the same horizontal path, drawing the witness's attention. Weather conditions indicated an east wind of about 15 km/h, matching the observed movement pattern. Although photographs were taken, their poor quality provided little useful information. The GEIPAN classified the case as category "B", attributing it to the observation of two typical Thai lanterns. These objects, known as "Thai lanterns," are paper balloons often released during celebrations and follow the wind's direction.
