On October 2, 2013, two teenagers in Walbach observed a luminous object with green trails falling toward Rantswiller. The Sierentz gendarmerie conducted a precise investigation, gathering essential data. Additionally, the website www.boam.fr recorded a fireball captured at 21:57 by a camera in Chaligny. That night, several large fireballs were observed. Witnesses in the Paris region reported the event on "Ciel des hommes," though accounts of the time varied between around 22:00 and 22:15. A witness from Walbach said "around 22:15," but called his godmother at 22:03, just after the observation—this detail, accurately noted by the gendarmes, confirms the correlation with the camera recording. The GEIPAN classified the case as "A," confirming it was a natural meteorite entering the atmosphere.
