On October 30, 2013, three witnesses in the Charente-Maritime region observed a red light in the sky near a forest. The phenomenon appeared and disappeared, remaining fixed in the air like a halogen lamp before suddenly turning off. Although it resembled typical Thai lanterns, this case is unusual: it happened on Halloween night, not a Saturday. Moreover, the objects seemed stationary, which is hard to explain with the light southeast wind. A second object appeared 15 minutes later in the same spot, suggesting multiple launches. The GEIPAN classified it as a probable observation of Thai lanterns.
