On December 1, 2013, several passersby in Bandol noticed a bright light to the west of the sun. This light persisted after sunset, allowing two fixed yellow-orange points to be seen with the naked eye. Witnesses noted that the points faded after 15 minutes. Although only one testimony was collected, the reddish traces resembled those of airplanes illuminated by the sun's reflection. An analysis from FlightRadar24 showed visible aircraft that day. Due to distance and flight direction, the contrails appeared at a very narrow viewing angle, creating a distorted perception. The GEIPAN classified the case as resolved, attributing it to airplanes.
