On December 22, 2013, at 1:30 AM, a witness observed from his doorstep the silent passage of two very bright orange spheres moving in a straight line from south to north. A third identical sphere then passed over his house before quickly ascending. Curious, the witness went to a high point in his village to continue observing the phenomenon, but he did not see it again. The luminous orange spheres crossing the sky in the direction of the wind, from south to north, matched the weather conditions of the night from Saturday to Sunday, leading investigators to conclude that these were likely Thai lanterns launched after a celebration in the southern area of Esperaza.
