🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On December 15, 2013, an observer in Paris noticed an unusual luminous phenomenon. From his terrace, he observed for several hours a bright fixed point in the sky that emitted no sound. He used both the naked eye and binoculars to observe the phenomenon. The witness described color changes, which seemed unusual. However, upon analysis, it was determined that the phenomenon was not an unidentified object, but the planet Jupiter. Its intense brightness in the night sky, combined with atmospheric conditions and the optics of the binoculars, explained the observer's perceptions. The case was classified as "A" by the GEIPAN, indicating it is a normal astronomical observation.
