In January 2014, a driver in Wasquehal (France) observed three orange-colored luminous shapes in the sky. While driving on a highway, he noticed the objects moving slowly and forming an acute triangle. Weather conditions showed very light and variable winds, suggesting the objects might have been influenced by the air. Although the orange color resembled the flames of Thai lanterns, the triangular description did not fully match that hypothesis. The GEIPAN included a photo of three Thai lanterns that could resemble what was seen.
The testimony is considered of low to moderate reliability. The witness observed the objects through the windshield while driving, making it difficult to assess their actual movement. Additionally, there were no other reports of this phenomenon in a densely populated area. Due to the lack of additional information to confirm or rule out the hypothesis of Thai lanterns, the case was classified as "C" by the GEIPAN.
