🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On January 28, 2014, a witness in Vosges observed for 2 to 3 minutes a luminous object that evolved from a halo into a very bright red ball with a small blue tail. The object made a complex movement: straight, stopped, half-turned with a slight deviation, then moved diagonally to the left before disappearing. It approached the witness, came within about 15 meters, and then moved away again. Only one testimony was collected, but it was coherent and detailed. Due to the unusual nature of the phenomenon and the low likelihood of human activity, the GEIPAN concluded there is no plausible earthly explanation. Although the possibility of a ball lightning is mentioned, there is no evidence to support this hypothesis. Ultimately, the case was classified as unexplained.
