On February 11, 2014, a witness in Floirac (Gironde) observed several bright objects moving silently across the sky. While closing his shutters, he noticed a series of lights that seemed to move in the direction of the wind, reminiscent of traditional Thai lanterns. The witness saw the objects moving from north to south. According to meteorological data from the area, the wind was coming from the northwest at a speed between 22 and 33 km/h, with few clouds. This direction suggested that the lights could have been launched from the Quai des Chartrons. Additionally, the Tea Festival, celebrated in Bordeaux on February 8, could be related to the launch of these lights. The GEIPAN classified the case as "B", indicating a likely observation of Thai lanterns.
