Summary

A witness in Sainte-Clotilde, Reunion, observed a very bright point in the sky on March 11, 2014 at 3:05 AM. From his south-facing window, he saw the object slowly moving eastward for 40 minutes. The GEIPAN, the French organization that investigates unidentified aerial phenomena, classified the case as "A", meaning it was attributed to Venus. The witness did not recognize the star, perhaps because celestial objects near the horizon are not always easily identified or because the sky was unusually clear that night. The humidity was only 66%, an exceptional condition for the region. The weather allowed for an extraordinary view of the sky. If the phenomenon had been anything other than Venus, the witness would have noticed it, as he was looking directly where the planet was located.
