On March 9, 2014, a witness in Talence observed from their terrace a silent orange rhombus-shaped object moving across the sky in a southeast to northwest direction. The object, moving at a speed similar to an airplane and in the same direction as the wind, initially seemed unusual. However, the GEIPAN concluded it was likely a flying lantern, possibly launched after a celebration. Although the rhombus shape is uncommon for traditional Thai lanterns, it could also be a Tura balloon, which operates on the same hot-air principle.
The case was classified as "B," indicating it is not considered an unexplained phenomenon. However, the person who launched the object was not identified. This observation highlights how even seemingly strange events can have conventional explanations, although their exact origin is not always traceable.
