🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On April 8, 2014, between 10:00 PM and 11:30 PM, a witness observed a set of fluorescent green lights moving silently in a straight line through a slightly open window. The lights were connected by luminous lines and extended over nearly 10 meters. Eventually, the phenomenon was hidden by nearby buildings. The only testimony collected described the objects as appearing to float in the air, as if carried by the wind. Wind recorded in Avignon was blowing from north to south, which aligns with the observed movement. It is likely that these were Thai lanterns, which can vary in color and shape and are sometimes tied together, creating the appearance of connected lights. While such festive events usually occur on weekends, celebrations during the week (such as birthdays) are also possible. Therefore, the GEIPAN classified this case as B: Thai lanterns.
