🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On April 20, 2014, a witness in Treuzy-Levelay (Seine-et-Marne) observed three glowing orange spheres moving slowly from south to north for two minutes. They appeared larger than an airplane and left a trail behind. The witness took photographs of the phenomenon. Although it might initially seem unusual, the GEIPAN classified the case as "B", indicating a very likely observation of Thai lanterns. These lights, which drift at low altitude following the wind, are common on weekend evenings. In this case, meteorological data confirmed a light south wind, supporting this explanation. Due to the low strangeness of the event, the GEIPAN did not investigate further or seek out the individuals responsible for launching them.
