Summary

On April 10, 2014, around 6:00 PM, a witness in Saône-et-Loire observed a bright, stationary object in the sky. The phenomenon lasted about thirty seconds before suddenly disappearing. Despite the brief and mysterious nature of the observation, only one testimony was collected. Investigators from GEIPAN concluded that it was likely a reflection of the sun on a distant airplane or balloon, located more than 50 km away. The sudden disappearance of the object was explained as a change in its orientation relative to the sun, causing the reflection to vanish without the object itself disappearing. Although the case was not considered particularly strange, it was classified as a probable observation of a solar reflection on a high-altitude aircraft.
