🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On May 13, 2014, a pilot reported a luminous phenomenon to air traffic control while flying near the English Channel. He observed one or two silver balls to the left of his aircraft. The testimony is very brief and does not specify the duration or movement of the object. At that time, the sun was at 36° elevation in the southwest direction, and weather reports from Caen indicated significant cloud cover. Due to the lack of precise details, investigators from GEIPAN considered the possibility of an optical phenomenon such as a Brocken specter or a re-entry of space debris or meteorite. However, the case was classified as "C" due to insufficient information to determine the true nature of the event.
