Summary

In May 2014, a witness in Villérbon (France) observed a cigar-shaped phenomenon near a commercial aircraft. The witness ruled out the possibility of a shadow and thought it might be an unidentified flying object. However, after analyzing the collected elements, such as the relative positions of the witness, the aircraft, and the sun, it was concluded that the conditions were favorable for the formation of a projected shadow. Additionally, similar cases and the coordinated movement of the aircraft and the phenomenon were considered. The observed object was slightly larger than the aircraft, and there were nearby clouds, supporting the theory of a shadow projected onto suspended particles. Ultimately, the case was classified as "A", meaning a confirmed observation of an aerial shadow.
