On a weekend night in Plobsheim, France, a witness observed 21 yellow-orange balls crossing the sky within minutes. Although the witness reported no wind, meteorological records showed a northeast wind of 20 to 30 km/h, consistent with the movement of the lights. The GEIPAN classified this case as "B," indicating a probable observation of Thai lanterns released after a private celebration. The witness had enough time to take photos and videos, but no other testimonies were collected.
The lights traveled from northeast to southwest, a direction matching the recorded wind. Despite the lack of additional witnesses, the GEIPAN analysis points to a conventional explanation. Thai lanterns are traditional floating lights often launched during celebrations, and their behavior in the air could explain the description. No unexplained elements suggested a non-terrestrial nature of the observed objects.
