In November 2017, a witness in Martinique observed a bright oval object in the sky. Initially mistaken for a weather balloon, the object remained almost motionless, which puzzled the observer. A gendarme also saw it, and both tracked the phenomenon for an hour until it moved eastward. The witness took a photo, though it was not submitted to GEIPAN.
