🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On July 13, 2014, a group of three people on a French beach noticed a mysterious object in the sky. The object, described as a dark, blurry disk, moved silently among the clouds for about 3 to 4 minutes. It left no trail and made no noise, which caught the attention of the witnesses. The object disappeared as it moved inland. Only one questionnaire was collected, but an investigator was sent to interview the witnesses.
The evaluation concluded that the testimony was reliable, given the presence of multiple witnesses and the consistency of the information. However, the unusual nature of the phenomenon was tempered by the lack of external testimonies. Although some plausible explanations were proposed, no conclusive evidence was found. Ultimately, the GEIPAN classified the case as a probable observation of a hot air balloon or airship, such as those used for advertising, surveillance, or amateur purposes.
