Summary

On July 20, 2014, a witness in Fontevraud-L'Abbaye observed around midnight an orange light moving silently from right to left, followed by several others at intervals of minutes. No other testimonies were collected. The lights appeared to follow the same trajectory, which led the GEIPAN to consider the possibility of Thai lanterns released after a private party. The movement direction, towards the northeast, matched the light and variable wind recorded in Tours.

Although the phenomenon was brief and no further data was obtained, the description and meteorological context support the hypothesis of aerostatic objects. The GEIPAN classified the case as "B," indicating a likely observation of lanterns. While unusual, such events often have common terrestrial explanations.
