A witness in Saint-Sulpice-et-Cameyrac observed about twenty spherical red-orange objects in the sky on August 3, 2014. The objects disappeared behind the village houses. The witness thought of traditional Thai lanterns but was uncertain. The near absence of wind made it hard to link the movement of the objects to air currents. There were no other witnesses or reports in the media or online to confirm the hypothesis, though it was highly likely. The GEIPAN classified the case as "B", indicating a probable observation of lanterns released after a private event.
