On August 17, 2014, at around 10:40 PM, a witness in Bergerac observed a bright white phenomenon in the sky for five minutes. The object moved slowly from northwest to east, drawing the attention of the witness. Although others also saw it, only one testimony was collected. After investigation, experts from GEIPAN determined that the phenomenon was the International Space Station (ISS), whose visibility in that direction and at that time was confirmed using the software Calsky. The observation was classified as "A", indicating a clear and verifiable identification.
This case is an example of how something initially unusual can have a simple scientific explanation. The witness's initial confusion was resolved by cross-referencing data with astronomical tools. The ISS is known for its brightness and visible trajectory from Earth, and in this case, everything matched perfectly. Although not an unexplained phenomenon, the testimony contributes to the database of aerial observations, helping researchers rule out more exotic explanations.
