🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
A GEIPAN case from France describes an observation on the night of August 31, 2014, when a witness and a friend saw various luminous phenomena in the sky. One of them, with a wavy movement, particularly caught their attention, followed by a sudden flash. Due to the imprecise timing and delayed testimony, investigators concluded it was a misidentification with satellites. The flash was attributed to a typical Iridium flare. Although the witness initially didn't recognize the object as a satellite, after a conversation with the GEIPAN, he admitted the oscillations were likely an optical illusion. In the end, the case was classified as a simple misinterpretation of a satellite.
