🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On March 4, 2015, a witness in Cambes (Gironde) observed a bright white object in the sky, the size of the moon, surrounded by two thin lines. The object moved slowly, changed to an elongated shape, and then disappeared. The GEIPAN contacted the witness to clarify details. It was confirmed that the object was in the northeast, with the moon to its right. The description matched an optical phenomenon known as a paraselene, caused by reflections on ice crystals in high clouds. This case was classified as a "lunar halo".
