In August 1997, two people in Port-La-Nouvelle observed two distinct luminous phenomena in the sky. First, they saw three orange points of light that seemed to form an equilateral triangle. This first object moved quickly from northeast to southwest for three seconds. Ten minutes later, two yellow rectangular lights followed the same trajectory. The witness could not remember the exact date of the event, which complicated the investigation. The GEIPAN classified the case as "C" due to the lack of precise information and the impossibility of verifying the data after more than 17 years. Although the witness claimed to have seen a triangle, investigators considered it could be an optical illusion known as "contour illusion." The lights might have been objects carried by the wind, but this could not be confirmed due to the lack of precise data.
