In July 2011, a witness in Aix-les-Bains observed a cluster of dark balls in the sky. The testimony was reported years later, in 2014, with an imprecise date. The object was at a low altitude, no more than 1,000 meters, and appeared to spin on its axis. Although the witness described the phenomenon in some detail, the exact date was unknown, limiting the investigation.
The GEIPAN classified the case as "C" due to the lack of precise information. Features like the blurry outline could be explained by atmospheric conditions or glare. No other witnesses or additional data were found, making a more conclusive evaluation difficult. Still, the description is consistent with an accidental balloon release.
