On August 19, 2013, a witness in Montfermeil observed a bright object that seemed to enter the atmosphere, stop, illuminate the sky, and then disappear in the opposite direction. The description of the event, along with objective data, led investigators to conclude it was an Iridium flash. This phenomenon occurs when sunlight reflects off the large antennas of Iridium satellites, creating a very bright glow visible even during the day.
The observation coincided with the presence of satellite Iridium 49, and factors such as brightness, color, and visibility from the witness's location supported this explanation. The case was classified as "A," indicating a verified observation of a known satellite phenomenon.
