On March 7, 2014, a person and her young daughter observed an object in the sky that appeared yellow-orange and crescent-shaped. The witness, surprised by the phenomenon, took a photo that matched exactly the appearance of the Moon at that time: in its first quarter, with 34% illumination. The Moon was in the process of setting toward the northwest, and it actually set at 0:40, matching the time of the observation. Interestingly, the witness claimed that the Moon usually rises and sets on the other side of his house, not realizing that the Moon, like the Sun, always rises near the east and sets near the west. Perhaps the fear expressed by his daughter in the middle of the night contributed to his impression.
