Summary

On July 31, 2014, at 23:45, a witness in Clayes-Souilly observed a bright orange object shaped like a flattened rugby ball moving silently across the night sky. The object was seen three consecutive times, following the same trajectory. Its appearance and movement strongly resembled Thai lanterns, often released during private celebrations. The movement from north to south matched the light northerly wind recorded in Roissy, and a brief stop in the object’s path could be explained by flying over a wooded area or a hill. Although the GEIPAN classified the case as "B", suggesting a conventional explanation, the original photos support this hypothesis without completely ruling out the possibility of an unusual phenomenon.
