🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On August 3, 2014, around 1 a.m., a witness in Isère observed a silent fireball moving in a straight line across the sky. The phenomenon lasted only a minute and no other witnesses were found. Given the time and location, the possibility of a sky lantern released after a celebration was considered. In fact, a wedding was taking place nearby, making this explanation quite plausible. However, weather data was inconclusive due to variable local winds. Despite this reasonable hypothesis, the GEIPAN lacked enough corroboration and classified the case as "C", meaning no definitive conclusion could be drawn.
