In September 2014, a witness in Mogins observed a red, round object that appeared to spin on itself. The object moved in a straight line, following the wind direction. Although initially thought to resemble a flying saucer, investigators concluded it was likely a weather balloon. The local wind in the area was blowing from the east, which explained the object's westward movement. The GEIPAN classified this case as "B," indicating a probable sighting of a children's balloon.
