Summary

In October 2014, a witness in Vaucluse observed an unusual orange light. The light appeared to the right, turned 90 degrees toward the east, stabilized, and then ascended vertically before disappearing. No noise or trail was heard or seen. The witness reported a south-southwest wind of 10 to 20 km/h, but the weather data from Marignane didn’t fully match this description. The possibility of a sky lantern was considered, but the light's behavior didn't quite fit that explanation. Due to the lack of photos, videos, or additional testimonies, the GEIPAN lacked enough information to continue the investigation.
