🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On January 14, 2015, a witness in Gujan-Mestras (France) observed a luminous phenomenon in the sky at 18:25. They saw several white lights without trails or halos, and without any sound. The observation lasted several minutes and only one testimony was collected. The GEIPAN classified the case as "B," attributing it to Venus and Mercury at sunset. According to a sky map, these planets were visible near the horizon in the southwest direction, near the Pilat dune. The photo taken shows an approximate direction, making the hypothesis not fully confirmed. Although the astronomical explanation seems plausible, the lack of precision in the witness's direction keeps the case in doubt.
