🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On January 10, 2015, a driver in Communay (Rhône) noticed two very bright points low in the sky and took a photo. No other witnesses were reported. Although the GEIPAN classified the case as "B", indicating a likely observation of low-flying aircraft, the witness described a dark mass between the two bright points, which raised some uncertainty.
A Flight Radar analysis showed that a plane on the Nantes-Lyon route was flying over the area at less than 2500 meters altitude. Additionally, air traffic is heavy in the region, which could explain the directional changes observed by the witness. An hour later, three HOP aircraft followed one another in the same area, supporting the hypothesis that the witness saw commercial aircraft.
