On February 17, 2015, a witness in Sarthe observed a bright white tube-like object with a red mark at the front. It moved rapidly from east to west and was visible for about 5 to 6 seconds before disappearing. Despite the detailed description, no other witnesses were found. The visual appearance and the straight, fast trajectory are typical of a fireball. The BOAM station in May-sur-Orne recorded a similar event at the same time, with a trajectory matching the observed direction. The witness, located at the eastern edge of the station's visibility, likely saw the fireball before it faded, with a wide view of the sky. The GEIPAN concluded it was a meteorite entry, classifying the case as A.
