On the night of February 8, 2015, a witness in Aubervilliers, France, observed a red light moving silently across the sky between midnight and 12:20 AM. The light appeared briefly through the window, moved horizontally from right to left for about 10 seconds, suddenly changed direction, and disappeared. Although the witness initially thought it was an unknown object, the GEIPAN analysis suggested it could be a Thai lantern or a luminous balloon. The movement direction, combined with the recorded north wind in the area, supports this explanation. The observation took place on a weekend night, increasing the likelihood of a private celebration-related event.
The light remained at a constant altitude and within 30 meters of distance, allowing a clear observation. The witness confirmed they were looking west-southwest, making the right-to-left movement consistent with a trajectory from north to southeast. This aligns with the meteorological data for the day, which recorded a north wind. Despite the brief nature of the phenomenon, the case was classified as "B" by the GEIPAN, indicating a likely conventional explanation. No unexplained elements were found in the report.
