🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On April 7, 2015, at 22:30, a witness observed several bright points in the sky moving very quickly. The phenomenon remained visible for over an hour, after which the witness stopped observing. She shared her video with the Sud-Ouest newspaper. A northwest wind of 20 to 30 km/h was recorded in Cognac. The GEIPAN consulted the military air control, which provided a series of radar tracks showing aerial activities consistent with "circuit de piste" maneuvers at the Cognac-Chateaubernard military base. The Air Base 709 confirmed significant night flight training activity that same evening. Interestingly, the witness had previously asked the base about air traffic and received a negative answer, possibly from an unqualified person. The GEIPAN classified this case in category "A," considering it clearly identified as a series of military aircraft training for night flights.
