🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On April 14, 2015, a witness in Gard observed two bright points moving rapidly toward the southwest for one minute. According to the GEIPAN report, the objects appeared to move faster than a typical commercial aircraft. Although initially thought to be commercial planes at a great distance, it was concluded that they were more likely two military aircraft at around 4–8 km away. The area is known for frequent military training, and the day of the sighting was suitable for flights.
The observation included a recording clearly showing two blinking lights, consistent with aircraft strobe lights. No red or green position lights were seen, which is not unusual in military operations. The silence perceived by the witness also fits with a plane at that distance. In the end, the GEIPAN classified the case as "B," meaning a likely observation of two aircraft.
