On May 7, 2015, two people in Vosges (France) observed a luminous phenomenon in the sky. They saw white, red, and orange lights that appeared to rotate around an object. Despite its movement, no noise was heard. A check of air traffic via FlightRadar24 showed that a RyanAir flight, descending at about 2000 meters, was coming from the north and suddenly changed course toward the northeast. This change made the aircraft appear almost stationary from the observers' perspective. Witnesses described the object as arriving quickly from the northeast and then stopping. The observed lights were likely from the plane: powerful landing lights, fixed position lights, and flashing anti-collision lights. These lights blinked asynchronously, possibly creating the illusion of a chain of lights. The silence was due to the distance and low engine noise during descent, as well as background noise in the recording. The case was classified as "A" by the GEIPAN, attributed to flight RyanAir 5061.
