During an outdoor party in Sainte-Colombe, about twenty people observed the slow movement of white light spots in the night sky. The phenomenon was silent, which sparked curiosity among the attendees. One witness managed to record the event with a high-quality camera. The glowing spheres moved southward, consistent with the recorded north wind in the area.
The GEIPAN investigation concluded that these were typical Thai lanterns, often used in celebrations. The lights gradually extinguished as they rose, and they were not connected to each other. Although the phenomenon might seem mysterious, the meteorological analysis and the recording confirmed it was a conventional event. The case was classified as "A", indicating a clear and verifiable explanation.
